You will find further information about who we are and what we do
in the About Us section.
About
the group: We are a group of practitioners dedicated to
working with muscular and skeletal pain. We include a core of experienced
osteopaths with different area of special interest and expertise.
An acupuncturist, physiotherapist/osteopath and massage therapist
all with the same shared focus on a team approach.
Our
assessment: As in any branch of medicine the key to effective
treatment is thorough assessment & diagnosis. That is why the initial
consultation is for an hour, to enable the right approach and thus
minimise the number of treatment sessions. In many cases a preventative
assessment can prevent the need for treatment at a later date. Problems
identified early on can be resolved much more rapidly than waiting
until the onset of acute pain.
Our treatment: Many people expect a visit to an
osteopath to be a traumatic experience! Something involving physical
contortions and screams! Our treatment is not routine. We apply
the appropriate techniques for the problems identified in the context
of the individual patient's own body. We offer a variety of means
to achieve the desired ends. Having many skills at the gentle end
of the spectrum also enables the treatment of infants and young
people.
Our
complementary approaches: We incorporate an acupuncturist
with wide experience of muscle and nerve pain, another with expertise
in traditional Chinese herbal medicine, a physiotherapist who is
also trained as an osteopath and a highly experienced massage therapist.
Our
other specialists: Working in the heart of London's medical
area we are able to make referrals and work closely with allied
services such as podiatry, orthodontics and imaging services (x-rays
and MRI scans). We have close links with other medical specialists
and orthopaedic & neurosurgical opinions can be organised if indicated.
Exercise
facilities: We have contacts with many gyms, Pilates Studios,
Kieser Training, Alexander Technique and individual trainers. Within
our fully computerised practice environment we are able to advise
and monitor progress with the appropriate training, thus building
an effective bridge to this key area of common endeavour.
Computerised
postural measurements: We are unique in being the first
integrated musculoskeletal health clinic to be using 'Lizard' technology.
A computerised system designed, by an Italian engineer, to objectively
measure standing posture and thus analyse problems more effectively
and track patients' progress with treatment and exercise.
Infants
and children: Although we hope not to have to see younger
patients we are fully able to work with them using very gentle treatment
and ensure their full recovery from any injury and help them overcome
any inherited problems as far as is possible. Our computerised tracking
is a very helpful way of monitoring problems before deciding if
treatment is appropriate. |
